The schemes of learning are planned across the key stage to allow for progression and development in areas of skills, knowledge and understanding and to ensure that the NC requirements are met.
Schemes are planned to a particular theme which changes every year to give a range of experiences. The length of the scheme can vary according to the materials, skills, techniques to be met. Looking at the work of other artists is an important part of the scheme and is a common thread that runs across the year and key stage. Students are not only encouraged to make developments in their practical, creative and technical skills but also in their intellectual and communication skills.
Homework is set and students are expected to have with them for each lesson a pencil, pen and eraser.
