As you may be aware, there have been some hoax bomb threats received at some schools in the East Riding today. Howden School is not in receipt of one of these hoax threats, in the event that we do receive one all parents/carers will be contacted immediately.
We have received information from Mike Furbank, Head of Children and Young People at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, and Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Miller stating the below:
“We’ve been made aware of a hoax email sent to schools in the force area this morning 13 April 2018. We want to categorically reassure parents and children, staff and the wider public that this a non-credible threat that has been sent nationwide. Our primary concern is to ensure that schools are given guidance, up-to-date information and reassurance and above all that everyone is safe. Community officers have already been sent to schools to provide that reassurance.”
We ask that parents/carers do not contact the school in relation to this, unless you have an urgent query or concern as the switchboard could become overloaded. The protocol is not to contact parents/carers until we receive credible information and guidance from ERYC.
Thanks for your support with this issue.
